Disability Van Service

The Van Service is designed for persons who, because of mobility impairment or medical condition, find it extremely difficult or impossible to use the regular shuttle bus.


Charter Service

Harvard shuttle buses and vans are available to University affiliates for charter when not operating the regularly scheduled service. We can usually accommodate small and large groups for both on and off campus service. All charter service fees are billed on an hourly basis with a 2 hour minimum. We also provide referrals to other local carriers who may be able to offer expanded services at slightly higher rates.

MASCO manages the Harvard Medical School shuttle which runs between the LMA and Harvard University in Cambridge.

MBTA

The MBTA offers service throughout Cambridge. MBTA routes 66 and 86 offer frequent service across the Charles to the Allston campus and beyond.

Zipcar

Zipcar has cars-by-the-hour available all over metro-Boston, including cars at Harvard's Cambridge, Allston, and Longwood Campuses.

The Transit Visualization System™ (ShuttleTracker) continuously displays the location of Harvard University shuttles and animates their motion against a detailed map of recognizable University buildings and landmarks.

The ShuttleTracker helps riders save time, stay safe, and have more control over their schedules while enabling management to manage the Transportation fleet with unprecedented clarity.

General Safety

Riders can help maintain safety by following these rules:

  • Be seated as soon as possible.
  • Federal regulations require that all passengers are behind the white line before the bus may depart.
  • Do not smoke in the bus.
  • Do not walk in front of the bus after exiting.
  • Do not push people when you enter or exit the bus.
  • Do not impede the driver from closing the doors of the bus, at any time or for any reason.
    Drivers will enforce all regulations. Service will be refused to anyone who does not comply with regulations or whose behavior is disruptive or hazardous to passenger and vehicle safety.

Overview

The University Shuttle Service operates fixed route bus service during the academic year (except university recognized holidays and semester breaks) providing safe, convenient, and reliable transportation throughout the Cambridge and Allston campuses. Major stops include: Memorial Hall, Pound Hall, Currier House, Mather House, Boylston Gate, Lamont Library, Kennedy School of Government, and the Business School. Harvard Shuttles are open to all members of the Harvard Community, including faculty, staff and students. From our low-floor and lift-equipped buses to our door-to-door paratransit van service, Harvard's entire system is accessible for riders of all abilities. Bikes on Shuttles

bike on busHarvard Passenger Transport Services gives bicyclists open access to our entire system. You can combine the freedom of riding your bicycle to work or class with the convenience of using Shuttles around campus during inclement weather or at night. Bikes are allowed on all buses equipped with bike racks at any time.

Stops

Bus stops are marked with special crimson, red and white signs. If you wish to exit at a non-designated stop, please inform the driver when boarding. Drivers will make requested stops whenever it is safe to do so.
