Harvard/Yale Football Game Parking - November 17, 2012
Harvard University strongly recommends that all attendees take public transportation to the Harvard/Yale football game. However, if you need to drive, limited parking is offered in the following locations:
Visitor parking for the Yale Game is available in the Business School (HBS) surface lot and the Soldiers Field Park (SFP) garage on a first-come/first-serve basis. Parking in these locations are $10.00 for the day. There are no in-and-out privileges and tailgating is strictly prohibited.
Accessible parking is available at Gate 8 located on North Harvard Street for customers with a valid HP placard and a pre-paid Athletics parking permit. Please contact Tim Wheaton twheaton@fas.harvard.edu in the athletic department for further information.
Accessible parking will also be available at the Harvard Business School lot. There will be a shuttle available to transport guests with accessible needs to the Harvard Stadium accessible entrance. For any other accessibility questions or requests please contact University Disability Services via email disabilityservices@harvard.edu or call 617-495-1859.
Parking exists in the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)’s Artesani parking lot located at 1255 Soldiers Field Road. There is no fee to park in the lot but current DCR rules and regulations apply.
Parking for Harvard University football season ticket holders is through the gates located on Soldiers Field Road. You must have a pass to enter. Season ticket holders should contact the Athletics Department directly with any questions.
General Information for Event Parking
The goal of Harvard Parking Services is to provide the best possible service with the greatest amount of flexibility and convenience to the Harvard community.
Event coordinators should review their transportation needs as an initial part of the event planning process. We recommend that all planners schedule any upcoming events with our office as soon as possible as some requests may not be approved for certain lots due to space constraints. Lists of commercial garages in the area, maps and shuttle service contacts are available upon request.
Harvard Parking Services also works closely with the City of Cambridge when city spaces are required for University events. In order to secure meters or other city spaces, requests must first go through Harvard Parking Services. Requests from Harvard affiliates will be directed by Cambridge Traffic and Parking back to Harvard. This assures the city that all Harvard University spaces are utilized first.
Support with larger events such as Passenger Transport and/or valet assistance are also possible options. Our coordinator will connect you with the University’s preferred vendors.
Please note: the costs for securing Cambridge permits, providing passenger transport or offering valet service will be charged in addition to the event parking fees.

City of Cambridge Street Occupancy Permits
The procurement of City of Cambridge Street Occupancy permits is a service that Parking Services provides for special events that are organized by Harvard University schools and departments. Parking Services manages the entire process from the initial request through the conclusion of the event. This is a convenient and time saving service for customers.
Beginning July 1, 2011 the fee for procuring City of Cambridge Street Occupancy permits through Parking Services will be $50 per permit requested. The final customer cost will be this fee plus the cost of the permit(s) that is passed along by the City of Cambridge. Those costs are calculated based on the type and duration of the permit(s) requested.
If multiple City of Cambridge Street Occupancy Permits are required for the same event, please see the fee scale below:
- 1 permit = $50
- 2-5 permits = $100
- 6-10 permits = $150
- 11+ permits = $200
Parking Services provides the following services with each permit request:
- Receives and reviews the initial request.
- Submits request via the City of Cambridge on-line request system.
- Receives approved permit PDF from City of Cambridge and forwards to requester via E-mail.
- Checks signage daily beginning three days prior to the event through the day of the event to ensure signage is posted properly.
- Coordinates with City of Cambridge to replace any missing signage.
- Coordinates with the Cambridge Police Department if illegally parked vehicles are interfering with an event.
- Coordinates payment to City of Cambridge.
- Forwards a final invoice to the requesting department and arranges for final inter-departmental billing.
For additional information on City of Cambridge Street Occupancy permits please contact Parking Services Operation Manager Jim Kotzuba at 617-496-2917 or via E-mail at James_Kotzuba@Harvard.edu.
