The University Operations Center offers Pagers and Two Way Radios for lease.
Pagers
Alphanumeric paging allows text messages to be transmitted to the pager via Internet E-mail interfaces or the University Paging System. Alphanumeric paging also allows a caller's telephone number to be transmitted to a pager via a local access telephone number specifically assigned to the pager.

Two Way Radio Service
Many University Personnel, Building Managers, Responders, Trade Workers, Local Emergency Management Teams and Emergency Groups are utilizing two-way radios for “push to talk” instant communication. Two way radios are an effective means of emergency communications since the infrastructure and equipment is not dependent on the public telephone system which may become congested or fail during an emergency. Two way radios are available for lease through the University Operations Center. Radios may be programmed for various departmental channels, private channels and shared emergency channels. The radios may also be used to scan departments and agencies not on Harvard’s radio system (e.g. local Fire and Police Departments). The Two-way Radio System maintained by the Operations Center consists of seven (7) frequencies combined with a network of conventional and digital transmitter sites across the University Campus. The system is integrated through command consoles at the Operations Center.
To avoid congestion in an emergency, the Operations Center will notify radio users which channel to use during a widespread emergency. Note that several channels including all emergency channels are continuously monitored by the Operations Center.
