HGCI is a university-wide initiative that links faculty, administration, students, and alumni who share a vision of Harvard University becoming a global leader in addressing the most important issue of our times: the global environmental imperative.
Our shared goal is to institutionalize a living commitment to environmental sustainability in all arenas of campus decision-making within Harvard University, including building design, construction and renovation, transportation, purchasing practice, facilities maintenance and university community behavior.
To achieve our shared goal, the HGCI is working to transform Harvard University into a learning organization and a living laboratory for the application of environmentally preferred practices at the local level by providing effective incentives, removing institutional barriers, designing effective training programs and environmental information systems.
