Safe Driving

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of unintentional death and injury in the workplace. Approximately 40,000 people are killed each year in commercial motor vehicle accidents in the United States. Harvard University's Vehicle Driver Safety Standard helps prepare personnel to drive vehicles in a manner that is as safe as possible.

The driver of a motor vehicle has an important safety responsibility. Drivers handle and move sensitive and costly items, however drivers who operate buses and vans have a greater responsibility because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is entrusted to them. Drivers are also responsible for the safety of those who are within the vicinity of their vehicle.
