Noise
When employees are subjected to sound levels that exceed those listed in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Table G-16 of 29 CFR 1910 Subpart G, feasible administrative or engineering controls shall be utilized.
- If such controls fail to reduce sound levels to within the ranges outlined in Table G-16, personal protective equipment (PPE) shall be provided and used to facilitate the proper reduction.
- If information indicates that any employee's exposure may equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels, the employer shall develop and implement a monitoring program.
- Instruments used to measure employee noise exposure shall be calibrated to ensure measurement accuracy.
