This Standard applies to all Harvard University owned, rented or affiliated buildings. Means of egress in Harvard University facilities must be designed, constructed and maintained in compliance with OSHA's 1910 Subpart E "Means of Egress" and all applicable sections of the NFPA Life Safety code.
Means of egress refers to a continuous and unobstructed route of travel from any point in a building or structure to a public way. The "route of travel" which is used to define a means of egress consists of these three parts:
