Harvard Real Estate Services (HRES) utilizes a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety management system to implement and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations. This toolkit has been customized to provide useful information and resources to assist HRES manage and meet its safety program responsibilities including training, inspections, accident reporting /investigation, and recordkeeping requirements.
Employees are required to fulfill specific EH&S trainings based on job duties assigned and work performed. Use the training assessment tool and training records database to identify training needs, generate training action plans, and track employee / employees training completion status.
Toolbox talks are conducted to encourage safety. A series of Tool Box Talk sessions have been developed and are available through EH&S. Attendance forms are to be utilized and retained locally.
Inspections are conducted on a regular basis to identify hazards (physical, unsafe work practices) and eliminate them by corrective action.
Any injuries incurred by an HRES employee while on the job or on University property must be immediately reported to the employee’s supervisor. Together, they must complete an accident report form and submit it to HRES Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident. In addition, supervisors must investigate all reported accidents and note corrective actions taken.
