Hazardous Materials
Harvard University employees shall comply with all standards regarding hazardous materials covered in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) standards regarding Hazardous Materials, 29 CFR 1910 Subpart H. In addition, the following guidelines should be followed:
- Do not handle or use hazardous materials without proper training.
- Do not use solvents, paints, or similar flammable, toxic, or irritating materials in areas occupied by Harvard University employees, faculty, or students unless specifically approved in writing by a Harvard University authorized representative.
- Maintain adequate ventilation when paints or solvents are used.
- Use flammable solvents and materials with extreme caution.
- Store flammable paints and solvents in approved flammable liquid storage cabinets if inside buildings.
