Regulations

Regulatory bodies have developed standards that apply to laboratories. Among these are the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). OSHA has a Standard specific to laboratories. It outlines basic safety practices, training requirements, and the Chemical Hygiene Plan. In addition, the DEA has regulations pertaining to the use of "controlled substances." The DHS has regulations specific to chemical terrorism and the development of a chemical inventory.
