Pollution Prevention

Pollution Prevention (P2) is finding a way to eliminate waste at its source. It is a tool to move towards sustainable living by using natural resources more efficiently, limiting the amount of material that must be disposed of, reducing the potential for pollution, and reducing the toxicity of what is produced. The United States passed the Pollution Prevention Act in 1990, making P2 the official government policy. This page is designed to provide university personnel with the informational tools needed to implement P2.
