Spotlight: Asbestos Waste Shipment Record (AWSR) On Line Process
The Harvard EH&S Department is pleased to announce that it has rolled-out the new web-based Asbestos Shipment Record (AWSR) process. This new Asbestos Waste Management System is now on-line for use in tracking the shipments of asbestos waste from Harvard University projects to an approved final disposal facility. Asbestos consultants and contractors met with EH&S in June 2009 and were trained on the new program and the receiving landfill facilities were trained in August 2009.
This new system will allow:
- Asbestos consultants/contractors to input their project specific information on-line and generate uniquely numbered
- Secure print-outs of the AWSR for their project.
- The receiving landfill facilities to know the volume and timeliness of the incoming shipments.
- The receiving facility to inform EH&S and the asbestos consultant/contractors immediately upon receipt of the asbestos.
- EH&S and Project Managers will have better knowledge and real-time tracking of asbestos shipments.
- Harvard EH&S will provide training on the new AWSR on-line system to Harvard Project Managers at it’s upcoming Harvard Project Manager Construction Outreach training sessions
- EH&S will be scheduling these training sessions for November 2009.
