Contractor Management
Harvard University has an obligation to its students, faculty, employees and neighbors to provide a safe environment and workplace. Contractors hired by the University also share in that very same obligation. We expect that our contractors will train, supervise, and direct their employees to be mindful when performing work on Harvard property. To that end, the Department of Environmental Health & Safety, in cooperation with the University's Office of General Counsel, has prepared tools and resources for University personnel who are managing both Service Contractors and the CAPS Project.
It is important to note that these tools do not address, and are not intended to abrogate or assume responsibility for, the contractor's duty to its employees. Nor do these resources provide an exhaustive outline of laws, ordinances or regulations governing environmental, health and safety compliance. Rather, they are provided solely to communicate the availability of hazard information for University properties and to outline Harvard's safety and environmental procedures.
