Apprenticeship Program

Project Name: Apprenticeship Program
Objective(s):

As part of our commitment to the career growth and development of our staff, UOS will plan and initiate a program that will allow entry-level staff to learn and work toward higher skilled positions in the maintenance trades.

Implementation Plan:

The current plan is to design and implement a pilot program that will allow several non-trades employees in UOS to enroll in technical training and gain work experience under the direction of skilled UOS trades-people. A planning team from the Diversity Council, UOS Administration, the Area Trades Council, and Facilities Maintenance Operations will develop the program.

Schedule:

Start Date: March 2004

Pilot Project Implementation: Fall 2004

Milestones:

  • Program scope developed – June 2004
  • Selection of pilot project candidates – August 2004
  • Launch pilot program – September 2004
